How to Onboard with Stripe

Step-by-step guide to setting up Stripe Connect so you can receive payouts for your sales.

What Is Stripe Connect?

Stripe Connect is the payment infrastructure that powers seller payouts on Wax Trader. When a buyer makes a purchase, the payment is processed through Stripe. Once the order is delivered, your payout is transferred to the bank account you set up through Stripe Connect.

When Should I Complete Stripe Onboarding?

You can complete Stripe onboarding at any time — either during seller registration or later from your seller dashboard. However, you must complete it before you can receive payouts. If you have sold items but have not completed Stripe onboarding, your payouts will be held until you do.

How to Get Started

To start Stripe onboarding:

  • Go to your seller dashboard.
  • You will see a banner prompting you to complete Stripe setup if it is not already done.
  • Click the "Set Up Payments" or "Complete Stripe Onboarding" button.
  • You will be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding flow.

What Information Is Required?

During Stripe onboarding, you will be asked to provide:

  • Your full legal name (or business name if selling as a business).
  • Date of birth for identity verification.
  • The last four digits of your Social Security Number (or full EIN for businesses).
  • A bank account for receiving payouts (routing number and account number).
  • Your address and phone number.
Note: This information is collected and secured by Stripe directly. Wax Trader does not have access to your bank account details or SSN.

How Long Does It Take?

Stripe onboarding typically takes 5–10 minutes. In most cases, your account is verified immediately. Occasionally, Stripe may require additional documentation (such as a photo ID), which can take 1–2 business days to verify.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during Stripe onboarding:

  • Make sure your browser allows pop-ups and redirects.
  • If you pause the process, you can resume it at any time from your seller dashboard.
  • Check your email (including spam folder) for any follow-up messages from Stripe.
  • If you continue to have trouble, contact Wax Trader support for assistance.
